Selling used outdoor gear helps everybody.

Repurposing your used outdoor gear is an excellent way to honor your love of recreation in nature. When you sell your used gear, you give it another life, while giving others a chance to find their new favorite hobby on a budget. Recycling gear exemplifies sustainability in our outdoor community, and we appreciate our community’s participation in this effort.

At The Gear Junction, we make it easy to offload your used gear. Here’s a breakdown of our consignment process.

  • Step 1: Inspect your gear, and call us if necessary.

Make sure your gear is clean, working, and in-season. We accept used equipment, including outdoor apparel, fishing, climbing, camping, river sports, biking, snow sports, or kids’ gear.

If you can buy it at a department store, we may not take it. If you’re not sure we will accept your gear, call us first - especially for bulky items.

  • Step 2: Bring in your gear during our business hours.

Once you’re here, we can hash out the consignment details. We’ll offer suggestions on price, but ultimately you set the sale price for your gear. Fill out our consignment form to agree to the terms. After that, leave your gear with us for at least 30 in-season days. We'll check it into our system and send you an email with the listing and price within a few days.

Be sure to read our consignment form for more details about seasonal gear acceptance, our price cut policy, and more.

    Step 3: Get paid!

When your gear sells at The Gear Junction, we’ll notify you via email, and you’ll collect 50%-70% of the proceeds, depending on the sale price. If you choose to collect your proceeds as store credit, you’ll get 15% more. If your item isn’t sold within 180 days, you can come pick it up (or we’ll donate it to a nonprofit for you if you can’t pick it up).

Want to wait and build up a balance for a big purchase? No problem - let it grow and use it when you need it!

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the acceptance dates for seasonal gear consignment?

The gear we take changes with the seasons. We don't accept summer clothing in the winter and vice-versa.

  • Winter gear intake: mid-October to late March
  • Summer gear intake: late March to late September
  • Shoulder season apparel: We take mid-weight clothing during spring & fall, such as: pants, long sleeve tops, softshells, light jackets, fleeces, etc. (For example, we won’t take tank tops in September and we stop accepting heavy ski clothing near the end of February.)
  • Camping, climbing, river and cycling gear is taken year-round. We pack as much as we can into our shop, but sometimes we may not have enough space to accept everything.

Please give us a call or email us before dropping off larger items to consign so that we can approve the gear and plan a drop-off time.

To make it fair for both the consignor and customer, we allow customers 1 day to return consignment items. This gives them time to ensure that what they purchased is functional, properly fitting, etc.

Using Store Credit

  • You get a 15% bonus on credit used in the entire store
  • Store credit is applicable store-wide
  • This includes new and used inventory, along with bike service.

Receiving a Payout

  • Stop by for a check
  • Cash for payouts under $25
  • Venmo
  • Paypal
  • We can mail you a check on request ($1.00 fee)

Do I need to call the store before I bring something in?

We'd appreciate a call beforehand if you want to bring in bulky gear, such as bikes, bike racks, SUPs, or kayaks.

For small stuff, just bring it in - no need for an appointment. But if you aren't sure if we take a specific item, it's best to call us first.
