Meet the Gear Junction Team
Jacob
Gear Junction is the place where Jacob's love for the outdoors meets his passion for community and gear. When he’s not helping connect people with outdoor communities and awesome gear, you’ll find him rafting rivers, mountain biking desert trails, or skiing freshies on the Mesa.
Cole
Cole is a Grand Junction native and has spent most of his adult life exploring the world outside. Though he spends less time on bikes and rafts than he would like, due to having a 15-month-old, he is excited to raise his kid on the beautiful Western Slope.
Jeff
Jeff was born and raised in Grand Junction, then earned a degree in Spanish from CU Boulder. He worked in Boulder for 3 more years before moving back to Grand Junction in 2017. He has worked for The Gear Junction since then, and has been happy to be a part of the business from the start, and to witness it grow as much as it has. Jeff runs the consignment program at The Gear Junction and if you have a question about used gear, he's your man. His hobbies include trail running, hiking, calisthenics, and golf.
Ian
Ian is a lifelong bike shop hound and enthusiast of all things pedal-powered. Originally hailing from Colorado Springs, Ian loves the endless trails, gravel and paved roads, and vibrant downtown of Grand Junction - it's all too good to say no to! Ian is dedicated to creating a friendly, welcoming, and helpful environment for every customer at The Gear Junction. Give him a shout with any questions!
Ethan
Ethan Ball is an experienced outdoor guide with over 10 years leading rafting, hiking, and multi-sport adventures - but rafting is his favorite way to connect people with nature. He combines technical expertise, safety-first practices, and a genuine passion for creating transformative outdoor experiences that leave a lasting impact on participants.
Beyond guiding, Ethan brings a strong background in filmmaking and marketing, crafting compelling stories and content that showcase the energy, adventure, and inspiration of the outdoors. He is passionate about using media and storytelling to encourage exploration, personal growth, and meaningful connections with the natural world.
Whether leading a high-energy river trip or developing creative content, Ethan blends skill, heart, and vision to make every experience memorable.
Owen
Owen Hoffman has lived in Grand Junction his whole life, and has been riding bikes for as long as he can remember! He loves to go canyoneering and is a member of our local search and rescue team. Gear Junction has been his shop of choice since they opened 9 years ago, and he hopes it can be yours, too!
Magdalena
Magdalena Halls grew up in Mancos, Colorado, and worked at Alpacka Raft from 2019 to 2022 before moving to Grand Junction. She has been part of the The Gear Junction team since 2023.
